2017 Fundamentals of Special Needs Trust Administration
Every spring, Stetson University College of Law holds an online-only webinar focusing on administration concerns with special needs trusts. Three leading practitioners from across the country will address common concerns seen by trustees, advocates and trust beneficiaries.
This year’s program will focus on:
- Recent updates to the Laws, Regulations and Public Policies governing SNTs
- Tax considerations when making — or withholding — disbursements
- The recently-adopted Special Needs Trust Fairness Act, and its effect on existing SNTs
- Tools available to SNT Administrators for making distribution, investment and management decisions
The program will also feature a panel discussion, during which the presenters will address participants’ questions and suggestions.
In the past, sessions have dealt with issues as various as the implementation of the ABLE Act, closing out trusts upon the death of the beneficiary or exhaustion of trust assets, and dealing with the difficult or combative beneficiary (or family member). The sessions have always been lively and informative.
